The Ladies Auxiliary of South Burnaby Branch #83 was given our Charter in June of 1927. One of our founding members of the L.A, was the mother of Mrs. Isobel Lutz who passed away in January 10, 2017. She was born December 13, 1918. Mrs. Lutz was our Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She was also a life member of the L.A. and had been a member for over 60 years. Our 1st Vice-President is Ms. Merilyn Smith who has been a member for over 50 years.
Our current executive are Ms. Dianne Barnes (President), Merilyn Smith (1st Vice-President) and Mrs. Lillian Smith (Secretary/Treasurer). We currently have 11 members in the L.A. and are always looking for new members.
Every second Sunday we have a meat draw and that is how we make money to donate to Union Gospel Mission, Children of the Street Society (who help exploited children in Burnaby), Children's Hospital, Canuck Place and the Firefighter's Burn Fund.
If anyone wants to join the L.A., or have suggestions on how to make money for the above charities, you can e-mail Dianne Barnes at email@example.com.
We have meetings every month on a Sunday, except July and August. We decide our meeting dates in the previous month. Our meetings start at 1:30 p.m. in the Amenity Room. They usually last about an hour as we have to go next door to the canteen to set up for the meat draw.
